Alibaba International Digital Commerce Group-AliExpress-In-house Legal Counsel-Legal & Compliance (Europe)

We seek to hire a legal counsel of commercial legal who will be a key member of the growing legal team supporting AliExpress in Europe. The attorney will be based in our Hangzhou office. Job Description 1. Reporting to General Counsel or Senior Legal Counsel, AliExpress, advise on legal aspects of the platform’s international expansion of current and proposed new e-commerce offerings, with a focus on Europe. 2. Address and respond to document requests from overseas government regulators and law enforcement agencies. 3. Provide advice on platform compliance, local and cross border logistics, customs and tariffs, and product listing compliance matters. 4. Research local laws and regulations in the local jurisdictions and manage outside counsel. 5. Provide advice to business teams on legal aspects of the implementation of commercial agreements, business models and strategies, business operations, supply chain operations and product offerings. 6. Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, commercial agreements and policies. 7. Develop in-house legal tools and policies, and conduct trainings to business units. 【任职要求】 1. Legal licence to practice in China. Strong plus to have a qualification, LLM or other legal studies in the EU, UK or other recognised Commonwealth jurisdictions; 2. In-house legal experience at a leading e-commerce platform or multinational corporation preferred, with a solid understanding of e-commerce business models and key compliance challenges, and/or cross-border trade transactions (such as import/export, logistics, payments, financing, etc.); 3. Direct experience handling regulatory investigations, inquiries, or enforcement proceedings initiated by EU authorities preferred, particularly those conducted by customs, tax, and other relevant regulatory agencies; 4. Chinese and English language proficiency is essential. Plus to have fluency in another major European language; 5. Highly responsible, independent, high integrity and team-oriented, with sound judgment and a proactive approach to risk management; 6. Ability to work with different locations across time-zones; 7. Sincere interest in technology, innovation and business. Strong commercial sense with solid foundation in legal training; 8. Open to international travel as may be necessary.
