Chief Optical System Engineer

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Optical System Expert specializing in semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment development. The candidate will have deep expertise in designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting advanced optical inspection systems for semiconductor manufacturing. A strong understanding of full-system integration, including illumination, imaging, and detection, is essential. Experience with super-resolution techniques (breaking the diffraction limit) and extended depth-of-focus (EDoF) technologies to enhance resolution and throughput in semiconductor inspection is highly desirable. Key Responsibility: · Design and develop high-performance optical inspection systems for semiconductor wafer defect detection with 20nm resolution. · Develop imaging performance by leveraging super-resolution techniques (e.g., structured illumination, near-field optics, computational imaging) to surpass diffraction-limited resolution. · Implement extended depth-of-focus (EDoF) solutions (e.g., wavefront coding, phase masks, multi-focus imaging) to improve inspection accuracy across varying topographies. · Develop and implement illumination systems using DUV, Visible, IR and laser light sources. · Conduct system-level optical simulations (Zemax, CODE V, or FRED) to validate performance under real-world semiconductor inspection conditions. · Collaborate with hardware and software teams to integrate optics, sensors, and algorithms for defect detection and metrology. · Troubleshoot and improve existing optical systems to enhance tool sensitivity, throughput, and reliability. · Stay updated on emerging technologies in computational imaging, AI-driven optics, and nanoscale metrology. Qualifications: · PhD or MS in Optical Engineering, Physics, Precision Engineering, or related field. · 5+ years of hands-on experience in optical system design for semiconductor inspection/metrology equipment. · Strong expertise in super-resolution microscopy, computational imaging, or EDoF techniques. · Familiar with high-speed line scan, area scan cameras and detectors are a plus. · Proficiency in optical simulation tools (Zemax, CODE V, FRED) and imaging system characterization. · Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes (lithography, etching, deposition) is a plus. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a system-level mindset.
