Job Overview: We are looking for a hands-on and detail-oriented Electron Optics Technician to support the development and testing of electron optics modules for electron beam tools. The technician will work closely with Electron Optics Engineers and Opto-mechanical Engineers to assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain electron-optical components and experimental systems. This role is highly practical and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with precision mechanical components, vacuum equipment, electrical systems, and laboratory instrumentation. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping R&D experiments running efficiently and ensuring that laboratory equipment and test systems are properly maintained. Key Responsibilities: • Component Assembly & Integration: o Assist engineers with the assembly, installation, and integration of electron-optical components and experimental systems. o Perform precision mechanical assembly of lenses, apertures, deflectors, detectors, fixtures, vacuum components, and related hardware. o Follow mechanical drawings, assembly procedures, BOMs, and engineering instructions. o Perform cleaning, handling, alignment, and installation of precision components in accordance with laboratory procedures. o Assist with installation and maintenance of vacuum chambers, pumps, valves, gauges, and related components. o Support cable routing, connector installation, grounding, and basic electrical integration. • Testing & Experimental Support: o Assist engineers in setting up and conducting electron-optics experiments and equipment tests. o Operate laboratory instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, vacuum gauges, and other test equipment. o Perform basic measurements and collect experimental data according to established procedures. o Help engineers troubleshoot equipment and identify mechanical, electrical, vacuum, or operational issues. o Record test results, equipment conditions, and experimental parameters accurately. o Support system calibration, characterization, and performance verification. • Laboratory Management: o Maintain daily operation and organization of the electron-optics laboratory. o Keep tools, components, consumables, instruments, and experimental equipment properly organized and inventoried. o Perform routine inspection and basic maintenance of laboratory equipment. o Maintain laboratory cleanliness and ensure work areas meet required safety and cleanliness standards. o Manage consumables, spare parts, and commonly used laboratory materials. o Assist with equipment calibration records, maintenance records, and laboratory documentation. o Support the preparation and modification of experimental setups as required. Qualifications: • Technical diploma, associate degree, or equivalent practical experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Vacuum Technology, Semiconductor Equipment, or a related field. • 1–5 years of hands-on experience in equipment assembly, laboratory testing, semiconductor equipment, precision machinery, electronics, vacuum systems, or a related field. • Good hands-on mechanical skills and attention to detail. • Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and assembly instructions. • Familiarity with common laboratory tools and measurement equipment. • Good understanding of basic electrical and mechanical concepts. • Ability to work carefully with small, precision components. • Good documentation and communication skills. • Willingness to work in a hands-on R&D laboratory environment. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable: • Semiconductor manufacturing or metrology equipment • SEM / electron-beam equipment • Electron optics or charged-particle optics • High-vacuum systems • Vacuum pumps, valves, gauges, and leak detection • High-voltage power supplies • Precision mechanical assembly • Magnetic components or magnetic shielding • Electrical wiring and equipment integration • Oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and other laboratory instruments • Cleanroom or controlled-environment equipment • Experience troubleshooting complex experimental equipment.
