Chief Optical Engineer - Bright Field Wafer Inspection Equipment Development

Job Description: We are seeking a talented Optical Expert to join our team focused on the development of bright field wafer inspection equipment for the semiconductor industry. As a Chief Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and optimizing optical systems and components to enable high-resolution imaging and precise defect detection on semiconductor wafers. Your primary responsibilities will include: 1. Optical System Design: Designing and modeling optical systems, including lenses, mirrors, illumination sources, and detectors, to achieve high-resolution imaging and efficient light collection for bright field inspection applications. 2. Lens Design and Optimization: Designing and optimizing complex optical lenses and lens systems using optical design software (e.g., Zemax, Code V) to meet performance specifications such as resolution, field of view, and depth of focus. 3. Illumination Design: Designing and optimizing illumination systems to provide uniform and controlled illumination across the wafer surface, minimizing reflections and maximizing contrast for defect detection. 4. Optical Component Selection: Selecting and evaluating optical components, such as lenses, filters, polarizers, and beam splitters, based on performance requirements, cost considerations, and availability. 5. Optical Testing and Characterization: Conducting optical tests and measurements to characterize system performance, including MTF analysis, resolution testing, stray light analysis, and system alignment. 6. System Integration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and software developers, to integrate optical subsystems into complete wafer inspection systems. 7. Performance Optimization: Identifying opportunities for performance improvement and optimization of optical subsystems, including enhancing imaging resolution, sensitivity, and throughput. 8. Documentation and Reporting: Documenting optical designs, test procedures, and results in technical reports and presentations, and providing regular updates to project stakeholders. Qualifications: • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field. • Strong background in optical system design, including lens design, illumination design, and optical testing. • Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax or Code V. • Hands-on experience with optical testing equipment, such as interferometers, spectrometers, and imaging systems. • Knowledge of semiconductor wafer inspection techniques and equipment is desirable. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Strong communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
