Sr. Technical Support Engineer

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled senior technical support engineer to lead technical support efforts for our optical defect detection & metrology system. This senior-level role requires deep expertise in hardware troubleshooting, field service operations, and customer engagement. The ideal candidate will serve as a technical expert, driving complex problem resolution, training junior staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance and customer satisfaction. Candidate Requirements: 1. Role & Responsibilities: • Collaborate and drive the R&D team to continuous improve our optical inspection equipment, provide input on the development of new equipment and technologies based on market needs. • Oversee the troubleshooting, optic components adjustment, illumination calibration, robot and stage position tuning etc. Analyze system performance data, identify failure trends, and implement preventive maintenance strategies. Ensure minimal equipment downtime and best operational performance. • Provide technical support and training to customers on installation, operation, and maintenance in field. Lead troubleshooting and resolving customer-reported issues in time. • Maintain detailed customer project records, maintenance & error logs, and operational performance reports. Regularly update to management team for customer project progress, challenges, and solutions. • Support new product introductions (NPI) by providing field insights and feedback for design and reliability improvements. 2. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or above in optical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in technical support, field service, or hardware engineering of optical defect detection systems and metrology system. Experience with directly working experience in tier one 8/12inch wafer inspection & metrology equipment suppliers. • Deep understanding of optical inspection technologies, such as optical microscopy, scanning optical systems (Dark field/Bright field/White-light/IR interferometer…), and advanced image processing for defect detection & metrology in semiconductor manufacturing. • Strong ability to reading electrical, pneumatic, signal schematic to assist troubleshooting, high proficiency to utilize multi-meter, oscilloscope and spectrometer to quickly identify and resolve complex technical issues on optical inspection & metrology equipment. • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English. Ability to interact with customers, team members, and senior management effectively. • Ability to travel up to 30% for customer site visits, system installations, and on-site support.
