Chief Optical Engineer - Dark Field Wafer Inspection Equipment Development

Job Description: We are seeking a seasoned and innovative Chief Optical Engineer to lead our team in the development of dark field wafer inspection equipment for the semiconductor industry. As the Chief Optical Engineer, you will spearhead the design, optimization, and integration of optical systems to enable high-performance defect detection and characterization on semiconductor wafers using dark field imaging techniques. Your primary responsibilities will encompass: · Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction, technical leadership, and mentorship to a team of optical engineers, researchers, and technicians engaged in dark field wafer inspection equipment development. · Optical System Architecture: Define and oversee the architectural design of dark field inspection systems, including optical layouts, component selection, and integration strategies, to meet stringent performance requirements. · Innovation and Research: Drive innovation in dark field imaging technologies and optical design methodologies through advanced research, experimentation, and collaboration with internal and external partners. · Optical Design and Modeling: Lead the design and optimization of complex optical systems, including specialized lenses, illumination sources, and detectors, utilizing state-of-the-art optical design software and simulation tools. · Performance Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to optimize system performance, including enhancing sensitivity, resolution, signal-to-noise ratio, and defect detection capabilities, while minimizing artifacts and false defects. · Technology Integration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software development, and manufacturing, to integrate optical subsystems into complete dark field inspection systems. · Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance processes and standards for optical design, testing, and validation to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of inspection results. · Project Management: Manage the optical engineering aspects of multiple projects concurrently, including project planning, resource allocation, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, to achieve project objectives and deliverables. · Stakeholder Engagement: Engage effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners to understand their requirements, address technical challenges, and align project goals with market needs and industry trends. · Talent Development: Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the optical engineering team by providing mentorship, training, and professional development opportunities to enhance individual and collective capabilities. Qualifications: · Master's or Ph.D. degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field. · Extensive experience (7+ years) in optical system design, with a proven track record of successful development and commercialization of dark field inspection equipment or related products. · Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. · Expertise in optical design software such as Zemax or Code V, as well as proficiency in optical modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques. · In-depth knowledge of dark field imaging principles, semiconductor wafer inspection techniques, and industry standards. · Strong problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills. · Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders at all levels. · Proven project management experience, including project planning, execution, and delivery within budget and schedule constraints.
