Optical Engineer - Wafer Inspection and Metrology System

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and innovative Optical Engineer to drive the development of advanced optical systems for wafer inspection and metrology in the semiconductor industry. As the Optical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, optimization, and implementation of optical systems that are critical to the performance and accuracy of wafer inspection and metrology solutions. Your primary focus will be on advancing optical technologies to meet the evolving needs of semiconductor manufacturing processes and enabling next-generation inspection capabilities. Your responsibilities will include: · Optical System Design: Design and development of high-performance optical systems for wafer inspection and metrology systems. Define optical specifications, components, and architectures to achieve desired performance metrics. · Technology Innovation: Drive innovation in optical technologies, including light sources, detectors, lenses, mirrors, and optical coatings, to improve system sensitivity, resolution, speed, and reliability. Stay abreast of emerging optical technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for technology advancements. · System Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and system architects, to integrate optical subsystems into complete wafer inspection and metrology systems. Ensure seamless interoperability and functionality across all system components. · Performance Optimization: Optimize optical system performance through simulation, modeling, prototyping, and experimental testing. Characterize system performance metrics such as resolution, contrast, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and dynamic range, and implement design improvements to meet or exceed performance targets. · Intellectual Property: Drive the creation and protection of intellectual property related to optical system design and innovation. Identify patentable inventions, file patent applications, and strategically manage the company's optical technology portfolio. Qualifications: · Master or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field. · 5+ years of experience in optical system design and development, with a focus on semiconductor wafer inspection and metrology applications. · Strong technical expertise in optical design, imaging systems, illumination systems, and optical metrology techniques. · Proficiency in optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or FRED. · Demonstrated leadership skills with experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams. · Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. · Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
